Mary Ann Torres awarded Certification in Meeting Management
Philadelphia, PA The Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC) announced today that Director of Business Analysis Mary Ann Torres received her Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) after completing the fifteen-week course hosted by MPI Academy and taught by the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. The successful completion is 4.8 CEUs. This is a sought-after degree in the meeting planning industry because it focuses on developing strategic thinking needed to assume a leadership role. The intensive, three-phased executive education program packs the highlights of a world-class graduate degree program into four days, followed by eight hours of advanced-level online coursework and a final project focused on solving a real-world, work-based problem.
“It was a great opportunity to continue to learn and grow professionally. My role is so customer focused that I really wanted to use this opportunity to further understand the needs and goals of the meeting planners that we service,” said Mary Ann Torres, director of business analysis.
As part of its management of the PCC, ASM Global is focused on developing its talent under the leadership of Regional General Manager Kelvin Moore. Torres has worked for ASM Global and the PCC for a total of ten and half years. Torres has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry with over thirty-three years of experience. Torres is also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
“We focus on the three P’s, product, process, and people, as the integral pieces for effective building management and ultimately to deliver best in class customer service. Part of our focus on people, means supporting our staff in continuing education so that our staff, like Mary Ann, can meet our customers where they live—in key industry associations,” said Kelvin D. Moore, regional general manager. “Congratulations Mary Ann! We are proud of your accomplishment.”
ASM Global has managed the PCC for five years, and just recently renewed that contract for an additional term. For the latest news and information on the Pennsylvania Convention Center, please visit www.paconvention.com.
