The Legal Associate assists in the delivery o f legal services to the Authority covering a broad range of areas of the law. The Legal Associate must have experience in the drafting and analyzing of contracts, and requires knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and judicial procedures. Under the direction and supervision of the Vice President of Legal/General Counsel, the Legal Associate shall review and draft contracts, drafts legal correspondence and documents, prepare documents summaries, conduct legal research, perform risk management functions, and assist with the coordination of all Legal Department work. The Legal Associate reports to the Vice President of Legal/General Counsel.
TYPICAL WORK ROUTINE INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:
Review and draft contracts, review sales license agreements and other legal documents Conduct legal research utilizing manual and computerized resources Provide legal assistance in connection with projects as assigned by the Vice President of Legal/General Counsel Supervise paralegal’s day-to-day management of general liability claims Keep abreast of developments in the legal field by attendance at seminars and professional meetings I:\JOB Descriptions\Job Descriptions 2017\Legal Associate '19.doc 2 Work irregular days and hours, including evenings and weekends, as circumstances dictate Perform such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the President & CEO
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILTIIES:
The Legal Associate must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, legal research capabilities, good judgment, and the ability work on many assignments at once while working independently. The position requires maturity of judgment in handling all PCCA, client and vendor information; all written correspondence and business conversations which shall be kept in strict confidence at all times. The Legal Associate shall maintain a professional attitude in the performance of the day-to-day activities, possess strong interpersonal skills and routinely demonstrate the ability to work effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers.
College degree and Juris Doctorate degree are required Previous legal experience preferred Computer skills must legal research software and Microsoft Office The ability to work with internal and external customers is essential.
