Client Utility Services provides all events at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC) with utilities ordered by the show management, including electric, gas, and water. In 2005, Client Utility Services processed 66 exhibit halls events, not including the other events held in the ballrooms, meeting rooms, or other areas of the convention center.
The Client Utility Services staff first works with the client when ordering utilities, where they have the option of purchasing their services on-line , by fax or in person. Ideally, this process begins three months before the opening of the event, and after receiving the final event floor plan.
One thing that is very unique at the PCC is the Utility Services staff's proficiency in Spanish. Hispanic meetings are one of the fastest growing markets, and the PCC is prepared to welcome them. Approximately five percent of the groups that visit the PCC take advantage of the bilingual staff.
